Maths - Week Commencing 30th March

It’s the week commencing Monday 30th March and there’s a whole new week of learning to embrace.

Remember, sometimes your Maths teacher may want you to complete activities that are specific just to you and your class. Therefore, make sure you check your email; your Maths teacher will notify you if they want you to complete something different (or in addition to) the learning below.

Click on your year group: Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 & 10Year 12 Maths and Year 12 Further Maths. Then scroll down until you find your class. 

Year 7

This week we are learning…

Angles:

  • Angles around a point (Hegarty videos: 812, 480)
  • Angles on parallel lines (Hegarty videos: 481, 482, 483)
  • Angles in a triangle (Hegarty videos: 485, 486)
  • Angles in polygons; interior & exterior angles (Hegarty videos: 560, 561, 562, 563)

Make sure you log on to Hegarty on the days you would normally have maths:

7MA1/2/3/4/U – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

7MA5/6/7/8/S – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Your teacher will have set you at least two tasks from those above for each day. You will find these when you log in: https://hegartymaths.com/

You can always watch the videos your teacher doesn’t set as extra work.

For each task make sure that you:

  1. Watch the video
  2. Make notes of key points and examples
  3. Complete the quiz

Year 12 Maths

Welcome to your first week of studying year 13 content! We are going to be delivering this content through pre-recorded lessons for you watch and follow along.

This week we are learning:

Trigonometry Part 1:

  • Lesson 1: Understand and use radians in calculations.
  • Lesson 1: Understand and use the reciprocal functions in calculations.
  • Lesson 2: Understand and use the radian formulas associated with sectors and arc length.
  • Lesson 2: Understand and use the small angle approximations for sin/cos/tan.

  • You can either print this or complete the questions in your book with full solutions.
  • If you have any questions, email your class teacher.

Wednesday: Visit the Google Drive link above to find model solutions.

  • Mark your exam pack with the model solutions (these are released on Wednesday morning).
  • If you have any questions, email your class teacher.

Thursday: Visit DrFrost. There will be an assessment to complete that will test your new skills. https://www.drfrostmaths.com/

  • Aim to earn a medal on the assessment (at least 6 out of 8).
  • If you have any questions, email your class teacher.

Homework: Complete an AS past paper from your exam pack (available in separate Google Drive link) as directed by your teacher (your teacher will email you to let you know which paper to complete).

Remember: A2 Maths is challenging! If you have any problems or do not understand something in a video or exam pack, contact your teacher who will help you out. Send a photo of your working out to your teacher – this will help to identify the problem quicker.

Year 12 Further Maths
