This week’s work is below for your classes. You should also check your emails as some additional instructions from teachers may be sent. Remember to ask your subject teacher if you need any extra help or support with the work.

What will I be covering this week?

  • Lesson 1 (30 mins): Recapping how to approach unseen extracts.
  • Lesson 2 (30 mins): Recapping how to plan effective essays.   
  • Lesson 3 (30 mins): Practice approaching unseen extracts and planning essays independently.  
  • Fix-it (30 mins): If your teacher emails you with a class-fix it, there will be space in the Word document for you to respond.

There are optional challenge questions that can be found at the end of the PowerPoint or you can email your English teacher.

  • Lesson 3 (30 mins): Approaching unseen extracts and planning essays independently.

You will be focusing on the theme of change in both ‘Macbeth’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’. 

You will then consider how to write comparatively about this theme.

Make a revision poster for the theme of change adding quotes from the rest of the text

  • Lesson 1- To consider how Macbeth has changed over the course of the play
  • Lesson 2- To understand Macbeth through a psychoanalytical lens
  • Lesson 3- To complete a research task on a charity of your choice, inspired by the theme of charity in Dickens' novella.

Re-read key sections from the text you feel the least confident with: Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and create revision cards.

  • Read, annotate and answer questions on each extract in the insert;
  • Revise and practise how to plan a language analysis style question, using ZIRFS;
  • Write an extended language analysis;
  • Revise and practise how to plan a comparative analysis.

Visit Educake or GCSE pods. Select resources relevant to English Language. There are so many helpful resources here to keep developing your skills. 

 

Year 12

Year 13

  • Continuation of Sheers' collection 'Skirrid Hill'. Focus on exploring these poems: 'Shadow Man', 'Under the Superstition Mountains', 'Service' and 'Amazon'.
  • Plan and write an argument of your choice for Sheers, using at least one of the new poems studied this week.
