Year 10 – Persecution research

  • Your task this week is to research an example of religious persecution.
  • There are numerous examples of religious persecution to choose from, including: persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar; persecution of Jewish people under the Nazi regime; persecution of Christians in Sri Lanka. You can pick one of these examples or find your own.
  • Once you have chosen your example, please complete the following tasks:
  1. Describe your chosen example in at least 100 words – who is being persecuted and why?
  2. Give at least one example of how this religious group has been persecuted (at least 50 words)
  3. Apply some of your knowledge by using key words/quotes to explain the news story in more detail (at least 75 words) e.g. you could explain how a Christian or Muslim would respond to this, or give examples of charities that would help the persecuted group
  4. Use the internet to find out what has been done to help this persecuted group. Have any charities started to offer support? Is Amnesty International involved? Does the government help or support this issue? (at least 75 words)
  • Upload your work to your Google Classroom.
