The WHTC House System
At Wembley High Technology College, the holistic development of every student is at the heart of our work. In Summer 2025, we were proud to introduce our new House System – a vibrant framework designed to celebrate our values, build leadership, increase participation, and promote unity through healthy competition and shared success.
Every student and member of staff belongs to one of our seven Houses, each inspired by an extraordinary historical figure who has made a lasting contribution to humanity in science, the arts, social justice, or intellectual thought:
Our mission is to deliver ‘Achievement for All’, one child at a time. We do this by creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment where every student is empowered to achieve the grades that unlock the doors of opportunity. Driven by our core values of hard work, ambition, resilience, empowerment, diversity, and helping others, we believe that academic excellence is the golden ticket to success. We are committed to equipping our students with the skills, knowledge, and love of learning they need to excel, ensuring they have the confidence and capability to shape a better world.
Why a House System?
The House System gives every student a sense of belonging and identity, encouraging academic and social mentoring across Year Groups and creating opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and personal growth. It enables students to:
- Work alongside peers outside their Tutor Group or friendship groups.
- Develop confidence and social skills by stepping out of their comfort zones.
- Be recognised for their unique talents, whether in sport, the arts, academics, or community service.
- Develop the leadership skills that they will need to be successful in their future careers.
House Activities & Competitions
Throughout the year, students compete in academic, sporting, creative, and cultural events to earn points for their House. Highlights include:
- House Art/Photography/DT
- House Music
- House Drama
- Sports Day
- Inter-house football, chess, debating, STEM challenges, creative writing, quick cricket, and more.
Houses also take part in charity fundraising, mentoring, and leadership opportunities. The House Cup is awarded to the team with the most points, and the School Spirit Cup goes to the House that best embodies our values through participation, leadership, and community service.
